President, Chief Investigator
Kent Grier is the lead senior investigator at KGFI, Inc. Kent has over 30 years of experience as a fire investigator, having worked both for the Wichita Fire Department and in the private sector. During his time as a WFD investigator, Kent also worked closely with investigators from other agencies including the bureau of ATF. Prior to joining the WFD Investigations Unit where he worked for 18 years, Kent worked as a WFD firefighter for six years. Kent has investigated nearly 3,000 fires in his 33 years working as a fire origin and cause investigator.
Kent is a Certified Fire and Explosions Investigator (CFEI) as well as a Certified Fire Investigator (CFI). NFPA 1033 Qualified Fire Investigator, as certified by the National Board on Fire Service Professional Qualifications. He is a member of both the National Association of Fire Investigators and the International Association of Arson Investigators, both Kansas and Colorado chapters.
In 1999, Kent was named the Kansas Arson Investigator of the Year, as awarded by the Kansas chapter of the International Association of Arson Investigators.
Kent enjoys an impeccable reputation as to both his accuracy and integrity in determining the cause of fires and explosions. Kent earned an Associates degree with emphasis in fire science from Butler Community College in El Dorado, Kansas, as well as a Bachelor of Science degree from Friends University in Wichita. Kent has taught fire science at the college level.
Tony Marceau is a senior investigator at KGFI, Inc. Tony has over 21 years of experience as a fire investigator, having worked for the Sedgwick County, Kansas fire department, the Office of the Kansas State Fire Marshal and KGFI, Inc. Prior to becoming a fire investigator, Tony worked as a firefighter and/or Emergency Medical Technician for 33 years.
Tony is a Certified Fire and Explosions Investigator (CFEI). He is a member of both the National Association of Fire Investigators and the International Association of Fire Investigators, both Kansas and Colorado Chapters.
In 1998, Tony was named the “Fire Investigator of the Year”, by the Insurance Women of Wichita organization.
Tony is highly regarded by both the law enforcement and fire fighting communities. He earned a Certificate in fire science from Butler Community College in El Dorado, Kansas and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Wichita State University, earning a Bachelor of Science in General Studies.
Fire Scene Assistant
Dan has over 45 years combined experience in law enforcement and security. He is a former supervisor in security at Boeing Wichita. Dan was recruited by Boeing after serving in the U.S. Air Force for 12 years. Dan is very good at conducting interviews and diagramming. Dan also does a great job in securing fire scenes, when such action is needed.
Jan is a former broadcaster and news director. She also has experience working in the legal field. She a very effective communicator and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Kansas State University, majoring in Journalism. Jan manages the front office and is always eager to assist clients. She can take case assignments and apprise you of when the investigator(s) will arrive at the scene.
